Prerequisites

  • General or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or advanced technical college entrance qualification according to German law § 17 Abs. 2 SächsHSFG*
  • teaching ability
  • C1 level German language** (for the full-time on-campus programme)
  • C1 level English language ** (for the part-time work-study programme)

Admission to the Master programme is a two-step process, consisting of a pre-selection in written form and a practical audition in Dresden. Following successful completion of the pre-selection, candidates invited to the practical audition are required to submit a written concept for a 30-minute class one week prior to the audition in their chosen specialisation. The audition enables them to demonstrate their aptitude through teaching the class and having an interview with the Board of Admissions.

Enrolment in the part-time Master Dance Teacher Programme (work-study) takes place annually for the winter semester. The next enrolment for the full-time Master Dance Teacher Programme (on-campus programme) is in winter semester 2022/2023.

* Evidence of higher education or technical college in accordance with § 17 Abs. 11 SächsHSFG when especially high levels of artistic achievement can be provided.
** The Admission to the on-campus programme for foreign applicants is conditional upon proof of German language skills. A minimum of level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages has to be proved. For the work-study programme a C1 level of English language is needed. If the proof of the language skills is not provided by the date of enrollment, the enrollment is only conditionally (in accordance with § 17 Abs. 11 SächsHSFG ). The C1 level of German/English then has to be proven by the end of the second semester, otherwise the enrollment will deemed invalid.

Application Portal

Attention, the portal will be activated on 01 March 2021. It will be closed on 31 May 2021.

Before the applicant’s self-registration in the portal, the following documents must exist digitally so that they can then be uploaded in the portal.

  • A tabular resume (CV) with precise information regarding your previous school education and previous work expericence (as a PDF file)
  • A motivation letter according to No 1 b) admission regulation
  • Certified copy or official transcripts of school leaving certificate from secondary school (foreign degrees have to be handed in with a certified translation into German or English at the latest at enrolment)
  • If applicable certified copy of previous study periods (undergraduate and/or graduate studys) as well as study results and/or exam results 
  • Proof of having paid the application fee of 30.00 EUR (copy of bank receipt)
  • For the work-study-programme: a proof of knowledge of the English language Level C1**
  • For the campus programme: a proof of knowledge of the German language Level C1**
  • Other evidence of examination or qualification in the fields of art and pedagogy in accordance with § 2 para. 1
  • By entering personal data, an individual application is generated, which must be submitted electronically via the portal within the application period
  • Certified copies must be submitted at the latest when you enroll

** The Admission to the on-campus programme for foreign applicants is conditional upon proof of German language skills. The next matriculation for the Master Dance Teacher (on-campus programme) will take place in the winter semester 2022/23. You will receive more information on this from January 2022.

The admission procedure for the Master Dance Teacher (work-study programme) is adapted according to the COVID-19 situation and is carried out as an online application with a written teaching concept (upload as PDF file) and a 30-minute practical exercise (submission as a video link please). Additionally, there will be a video interview.

To apply, the following documents have to be submitted via the Universit's online application portal:

  • Completed and signed application form
  • Tabular CV with precise information about previous school education and previous work experience (please find a sample CV in the section Application Form)
  • A motivation letter according to No. 1 b) of the Admission Regulations
  • A certified copy or official transcripts of the school leaving certificate from secondary school (foreign degrees have to be handed in with a certified translation into German or English at the latest at enrolment)
  • If applicable, a certified copy of previous study periods (undergraduate and/or graduate studys) as well as of study and/or exam results 
  • A doctor’s letter declaring the candidates good health
  • For the work-study programme: proof of knowledge of the English language at Level C1**
  • For the on-campus programme: proof of knowledge of the German language at Level C1**
  • Other evidence of examination or qualification in the fields of art and pedagogy in accordance with § 2 para. 1
  • Proof of payment of application fee (copy of bank receipt)

The completed application form has to be send together with the required documents to the Office of Student affairs by post.

The following application requirements must be considered:

  • Please do not submit original documents, as they will not be returned.
  • All documents have to be sent by email in one PDF file (maximum size 3 MB).
  • Do not send zip files.

To apply, a fee about 30.00 EUR* has to be paid. The fee is due with sending the application documents and will not be refunded.

Semester fee on-campus programme: A semester fee of 498.10 EUR has to be paid by students starting from the the semester of the 21st birthday. The others need to pay 455.10 EUR.
